Installing and launching Martini Desktop
In this page, we'll go through the process of installing the Desktop Edition of Martini, and starting the embedded Martini Runtime instance that is bundled with it.
Installation
To install Martini Desktop, please follow these steps below:
- Download the installer for Martini Desktop. There are multiple versions of the installer available; choose the one which matches your operating system.
- Open the file (usually done by double-clicking it), and follow the steps presented by the wizard in order to install Martini Desktop.

Starting the embedded Martini Runtime
Martini Desktop comes bundled with an embedded instance of Martini Runtime. This allows for a clean and simple installation; and Martini Desktop to manage, upgrade, start, and stop the instance.
To start your embedded instance, follow these steps:
- Run Martini Desktop.
- If it's the first time you will be running Martini Desktop, you will be asked to provide your license in the license installation wizard.

If the instance isn't started and your license is already installed, you can use either of these two methods to start the Runtime:
- Double click the the
local
server in the Navigator view; or - Right-click the
local
server, and then select Start from the appearing context menu.
If the instance has not yet started, it will appear with a red badge, and a hint beside it displaying that it's stopped (as shown above).

Upon commencing the startup of the embedded Runtime, the Console view will appear showing the startup progress and log messages. At this stage the badge for the instance in the Navigator will be a mustard colour, and the label will display Starting.

Once the instance has started, the server will appear with a green badge, which indicates that it is ready.
Shutting down the embedded Martini Runtime
To shut down the embedded instance, you can either:
- (1) Right-click on the
local
server in the Navigator, and select Shut Down; or - (2) Click on the stop button from the embedded instance's Console view.
